Pieter-Jan De Pue
Urodzony w 1982 roku w Gencie, belgijski fotograf i reżyser filmowy. Absolwent studiów z zakresu sztuk wizualnych w RITS School w Brukseli. „Kraina oświeconych” to jego pełnometrażowy debiut dokumentalny, za który został uhonorowany między innymi na prestiżowym festiwalu Sundance.
A photographer and film director from Belgium born in 1982 in Ghent. He studied at the visual arts school RITS. His first feature documentary is „The Land of the Enlightened” which won award among others at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival.

Kręcona przez kilka lat dokumentalna epopeja o Afganistanie, ukazanym przez pryzmat nieznanej wcześniej prawdziwej historii. Na tle spektakularnych panoram afgańskiego krajobrazu, reżyser ukazuje nam przejmujące losy młodego Gholama, który szefuje gangowi złożonemu z nastoletnich chłopców z plemienia Kuchi.

„The Land of the Enlightened” is created by several years blend of fictional and documentary form about Afghanistan – illustrated through the prism of previously unknown true story. Against the background of the spectacular panoramas of the Afghan landscape, the director shows us the poignant fate of a young Gholam, who is a leader of a gang composed of teenage boys from the Kuchi tribe.
