Urodzona w 1981 roku we Fiesole. Studiowała literaturę i filozofię na Uniwersytecie w Turynie, po czym ukończyła kurs scenopisarstwa w turyńskiej Holden School. Zadebiutowała w 2011 roku filmem “Corpo celeste”. Za zrealizowane trzy lata później “Cuda” otrzymała Grand Prix festiwalu w Cannes. Stale współpracuje z siostrą Albą, która jest jedną z najpopularniejszych włoskich aktorek.
Born in 1981 in Fiesole. She graduated in Literature and Philosophy from Torino University before completing a screenwriting course at Holden School in Turin. She made her debut in 2011 with the movie “Corpo celeste”, and won the Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival three years later for her movie “The Wonders”. She continuously works together with her sister, Alba, who is one of the most popular Italian actresses.

Alice Rohrwacher’s (“The Wonders”) new film, presented and awarded for the best screenplay at the 71st annual Cannes Film Festival. “Lazzaro felice” is an oneiric tale on the verge of Italian neorealism and magic realism. The story concentrates on the meeting between Lazzaro, a boy so gentle that he is often mistaken for simple-minded, and Tancredi, a young nobleman with excessively vivid imagination.
